About Me

The City Speaks — I Paint Its Rhythm.

About James Kamande

Stories from Rust, Rhythm, and Grace.

I am a contemporary visual artist based in Nairobi, Kenya. Through mixed media paintings and sculptures, I explore the unseen poetry of urban life — the bridges, buildings, birds, and people that shape the city’s rhythm. My work tells the stories of resilience, fragility, and hope woven into everyday spaces.

My artistic process is guided by the belief that cities remember — that every wall, bridge, and shadow carries traces of human experience. I use texture, tone, and layered symbolism to uncover those silent memories and turn them into visual narratives that speak of belonging, identity, and survival.

Why Collect My Work

Each piece I create tells a story that transcends the canvas — a story of people, spaces, and the silent poetry of city life.

My art is not only visual; it’s emotional, historical, and deeply rooted in Nairobi’s evolving identity. I seek to preserve the rhythm of everyday resilience, the architecture of hope, and the grace found in struggle.

Collecting my work means being part of a larger conversation about belonging, transformation, and memory in the modern urban world.
